Neeraj Chopra Wins Silver Medal on Purpose, To Avoid Gold Tax

In an exclusive interview with Phony Times, Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra dropped a bombshell: he intentionally aimed for silver instead of gold at the Olympics to avoid India's hefty tax on gold medals.

"Honestly, I was cruising towards gold, but then I remembered about the tax that was waiting," Chopra said with a chuckle. "I didn't want to give up a chunk of my prize money to the government, so I decided to settle for silver."

When asked if he was joking, Chopra said seriously, "Why would I joke about taxes? That's no laughing matter."

While talking to Phony Times, Chopra added, "I mean, have you seen the tax rates on gold in India? It's like they want us to win silver or something!"
